The stainless steel in the day-to-day of your kitchen.
Resistant, the use of Stainless Steel utensils in kitchens is each time higher. Initially it was common in platter and cutlery, but the material is conquering space and has migrated to cookware, kitchen worktops, sinks, skillets and domestic appliances, due to its appearance, resistance to corrosion and its food preservation properties.
Many homes still save the stainless steel products, which end up coming out of the cabinet only on special occasions. However, it is not necessary to reduce the use to prevent wear in these products, because, according to Stainless Steel Center - Marketing and Technical Development Center of Stainless Steel - if well maintained, the quality stainless steel has great durability, keeping its beauty and shine for long.
Conservation care with Stainless Steel
They are easy and it is possible to preserve it against corrosion, maintaining its beauty and shine for much longer, with simple procedures, using only water, soap and neutral detergents, says Arturo Chao Maceiras, executive director of Núcleo Inox.
Stainless steel does not oxidize in the same way as carbon steel products which, when rusting, have a peeled red layer. The eventual stains on the surface of a stainless steel utensil, in the majority, are caused by iron particles that contaminated the stainless steel. It is these particles that are rusting and not the product, says Chao.
The expert explains that for more resistant stains, a tip is to apply the mixture made of baking soda and household alcohol. The ideal is to use a soft cloth or nylon loofah, but never steel wool. In addition to scratching the polished parts, the steel sponges leave tiny particles that can cause stains, he reveals.
Stainless steel helps to save energy
In addition to being versatile, beautiful and practical, stainless steel helps to save energy in the kitchen. By retaining more heat than other materials, stainless steel pans become more economical in preparing food. And because it releases less metal ions, it does not produce a smell or taste and does not release substances that could alter the taste of food. In addition, the ability to withstand sudden changes in temperature makes the product multifunctional, that is, it flows from the oven to the sink smoothly.
Due to its smooth and pore-free surface, the metal makes it harder for bacteria to adhere, ensuring more hygiene and health than other materials. There is also a proven advantage in the cost / benefit ratio compared to other materials and, in the ecological aspect, butchery equipment, bakery equipment, bar and restaurant equipment or stainless steel ice cream equipment, after reaching the end of long service life, are fully recyclable
